Burger Rating Rules

Greetings fellow burger tramps. I love burgers. So I decided to start sticking them up on here and reviewing them. I'll be visiting the various burger haunches of London and giving each burger consumed a review and rating.

Burgers can be gourmet, (leaving you feeling that you’ve eaten fairly healthily - these are generally sold in proper restaurant style burger chains), they can be dirty (unashamedly spilling their innards down your clothes and leaving their meat juices over your face. But they know you'll crave them again; it's just a matter of time), or they can blur the lines of grease and lie somewhere inbetween. This type will be listed above the rating, but it won't influence it - I love all burgers equally and don't judge them for being filthy.

Burgers will be rated out of 10. I’m reviewing the burger, not the restaurant (as there could be several burgers reviewed from the same chain/branch), although I'll chip in with some quips about the general experience. The rating will be based on several criteria (this has been introduced since the beginning of the blog for those keen-eyed of you):

Meat - score out of 3 (a McDonalds burger thin processed overcooked patty would score 0 here) - meat needs to be tender, juicy and seasoned well to score maxiumum points
Bun - score out of 2 - a top bun will be nicely rounded, fairly squishy, not too dry or too sweet and hold the burger juices
Fillings - score out of 2 - their taste, contribution to the burger and quality will be scored here
Package - score out of 2 - how well the burger works overall - how good is the overall taste and does the burger hold together well. The choice of bun will also factor into this score.
Extra point - an extra point up for grabs here to round off the 10 - was I blown away by some aspect of the burger - this could be anything including the price.

Enjoy the burgers you filthy readers!

  1. Right, Bobby, I appreciate all your hard work, but I feel that you are missing something. As a scientist, surely you recognise the need for a 'control' burger? Something we are all familiar with, and is always the same. May I request a 'control' sample of the Burger King Whopper? Then I'll be able to have a benchmark against which to measure your other samples?

  2. This is a very good and scientific idea, and one that I have clearly overlooked. I will endeavour to head to Burger King for a control sample soon
